High turnout expected for European Elections

Over 60 per cent of people plan to vote in the upcoming European Elections, according to a poll conducted by The News Room.

This is a stark increase from national figures which show only a 35 per cent likelihood to vote.

Interestingly, many 22-26 year olds plan to vote the Green party, which may reflect the lack of support after the tuition fee’s debacle in 2010.

Almost 40 per cent of people say they will be voting SNP, the majority of which lie in the 36+ age range.

With many people expecting a surge in Ukip votes, our poll shows that only three per cent of people plan to vote for the controversial party. This is surprising as many are expecting the last Scottish MEP seat to go to this party.

With only three days left till the elections, it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Are you planning on voting?
