The best of the world of sustainable living made it’s way to Fintry as FRESh 2014 kicked off.

The Fintry Renewable Energy Show - better known as FRESh - is a bi-annual event that showcases sustainability in communities in Stirlingshire and beyond.

This year’s show opened with a speech from the chairman of the Fintry Development Trust, David  Howell, who spoke of his hopes for what the event could achieve.

The event also channelled something of an international flavour, as later followed a talk from Werner Frohwitter of Feldheim, Germany where the small village community owns and operates its own energy grid.

Also featured was a debate hosted by broadcaster and presenter, Lesley Riddoch with

panellists from throughout the sustainable community-led sector. The panel included award winning chef and Cafe St Honore owner Neil Forbes, as well as representatives from the Mull hydro electric project. The debate focused on how local communities can pull together to become more ecological, as well as ways in which businesses can progress to a more eco-friendly way of running.

As well as the main talks there was also a series of workshops, stalls and a chance to test drive electric vehicles.
