Studio Ghibli has done it again, with an exceptionally brilliant storyline and amazing visuals, Princess Mononoke is quite arguably one of the best films to come from the animation giant.

The story follows a young human boy, Ashitaka who journeys into the forest to find a cure for a curse of unknown origin on his right arm. He is joined by wild, wolf-warrior Princess San who is Princess Mononoke.

Set in medieval Japan, the film tells the tale of the ancient forest gods and their plight against the ever growing human threat. Not only does the story entail an epic mythical battle but a real growing ecological concern.

Studio Ghibli has produced many fantastic visual tales including My Neighbour Totoro and Kiki’s delivery service, but it’s the real life themes in Princess Mononoke that make the film so remarkable.
